British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has abandoned the European exchange program for Erasmus students as part of his post-Brexit agreement reached on Thursday, December 24 with the EU, citing questions of cost and announcing a global program to replace it.

", Boris Johnson explained that while it was a "
wonderful thing
" to host so many European students, the program was "
extremely expensive

The head of the Conservative government has announced a national program to allow British students to go to study in the "
best universities
" all over the world and not just in Europe.
The Erasmus program, in which the United Kingdom has participated since 1987, will give way to the Alan Turing program, named after this famous British mathematician.
European negotiator Michel Barnier expressed his “
regret
” that the United Kingdom is abandoning Erasmus, asking the government to “

clarity
” on the alternative solution it will implement.
