Weather forecast: snow, cold ... this time it's really winter!

2020-12-24T18:55:45.968Z

The temperatures will drop from this Christmas Friday, accompanied by showers of rain and snow over part of the country.

Christmas will not take place "on the balcony", as the saying sometimes goes.

After a few days of great mildness, the entry into winter, officially started on Monday, will be felt for good on Friday.

This December 25, the weather will be marked by cool temperatures, numerous cloudy passages and showers, snowy at low altitude, over a large part of the country, according to Météo France forecasts.

The showers will extend from Haute-Normandie and Hauts-de-France in the Grand-Est, to the Pyrenees, Rhône-Alpes and the Southern Alps.

From the Pyrenees to the Massif Central and the eastern borders, the sky will remain congested until evening and frequent precipitation.

Snowfalls, often copious, are expected on all massifs, from 300 to 400 m altitude, rather 600 to 700 m in the Southern Alps, and on Corsica at the end of the day.

Minimum from -1 ° C to +3 ° C

In the west of the country, from Brittany and Lower Normandy to Aquitaine, conditions will be calmer, with beautiful sunny periods.

Over the hours these clearings will even extend to the entire northwest.

Near the Mediterranean, the day promises to be sunnier but very windy.

Mistral and tramontane will blow up to 100 to 120 km / h.

Generally speaking, the north to north-westerly wind will be sensitive over the whole country and will accentuate the feeling of cold.

📉 The change in air mass is felt.

We have lost 4 to 8 ° C in 24 hours over 2/3 of France and the drop will be confirmed tomorrow.

Minimum temperatures will range from -1 to + 3 degrees in most regions, with severe frosts in the mountains, they will reach 3 to 8 degrees near the Mediterranean.

The maximum will go from 2 to 7 degrees on the eastern half and the Massif Central, from 5 to 10 degrees in the west and near the Mediterranean with peaks of 11 or 12 on the Côte d'Azur.

They will reach 13 to 16 degrees in the afternoon in Corsica.
