In a special interview with the Saudi website "Elaf", IDF Spokesman Brigadier General Hedi Zilberman was quoted this evening (Friday) as saying that Israel monitors Iran's movements in the region.
Zilberman denied that Israel knows of an Iranian intention or plan to attack Israel specifically.
"We have information that Iran is developing as UAVs and smart missiles that are capable of reaching as far as Israel," the IDF spokesman said.
Brigadier General Zilberman noted that when Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi warned Iran against promoting any attack, he was also referring to Iraq and Yemen.
As for the remarks made by Lt. Col. Kochavi about the circle of other countries, Brigadier General Zilberman explained that the intention was that the first circle was Syria and Lebanon.
That is, the second circle includes Iraq and Syria.
An IDF spokesman mentioned in this context that Iran attacked oil facilities in Saudi Arabia in 2019 through Yemen and Iraq, while operating dozens of UAVs and missiles guided from a distance without anyone discovering them.
"This indicates a high Iranian capability in the field," an IDF spokesman said, emphasizing that such a scenario could be repeated in the Israeli arena.
As you may recall, earlier this week it was reported in "Here News" that an Israeli submarine openly crossed the Suez Canal and it is estimated that it sailed in the direction of the Persian Gulf.
Asked about this, Brigadier General Zilberman said that he did not approve of the publication, but did not deny the claim that the Israeli navy operates everywhere. He noted that Israeli submarines sail quietly to different places, far and near.
The IDF Spokesman added that the IDF operates with complete freedom everywhere in the Middle East and also among countries that have no border with Israel and may go beyond that.
