Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Egyptian Sameh Shoukry discussed during a phone call today the two crises in Syria and Libya, as well as a number of regional files.
In a statement carried by Russia's website, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Lavrov and Shukri pointed out during the call to "the necessity of ensuring the Syrians' right to self-determination in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254."
In a press conference last month, Lavrov reiterated the need to settle the crisis in Syria in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, eliminate terrorism in Idlib, make efforts for reconstruction and the return of the displaced Syrians to their country.
Regarding the crisis in Libya, the ministry stated in its statement that the two ministers stressed the need to impart a comprehensive nature to the national dialogue there, and the commitment of their countries to the sovereignty and unity of the Libyan territories and a peaceful settlement in accordance with the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2510.
