It was in 1920, year of the first election of Miss France which crowned Agnès Souret.
One hundred years later, the beauty contest still exists.
And it beats audience records in each edition.
As tradition dictates, the candidates meet each year before the election in sumptuous hotels in Overseas France for several days of training.
But this year, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the organization had to revise its plans.
A sanitary bubble was set up at the Trianon Palace in Versailles and the ceremony was held at the Puy du Fou, behind closed doors.
Marie Poussel, journalist in the Culture department of Parisien, tells us behind the scenes of an election under close surveillance.
