Hundreds of millions around the world celebrated Christmas today (Friday) with a meager attendance due to corona restrictions, with Pope Francis calling on all humans to get vaccinated, describing the vaccines against the virus as "flashes of hope in this time of darkness and uncertainty."

Like many around the world, the head of the Catholic Church was forced to violate the usual Christmas tradition, delivering his annual speech "to the city (Rome) and to the world," in a video from the Apostolic Palace, to prevent the congregation from gathering in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.

The plague has claimed the lives of more than 1.7 million people, and is still raging in much of the world, but the recent onset of mass immunizations has boosted hopes that 2021 will be the year we mark the end of the plague.

In his speech, the Pope called for a solution that would allow vaccines to be distributed to all residents of the world, noting in particular the vulnerable and vulnerable populations.

"I call on everyone, the leaders of countries, businesses, international organizations, to promote cooperation and not competition, to find a solution for everyone: vaccines for everyone, especially the most vulnerable and most in need in all parts of the world," he said.

The Queen of Britain, Elizabeth II, also dedicated her annual speech in honor of the holiday to finding hope "in difficult and unexpected times."
