The Washington Post confirmed today that outgoing President Donald Trump used the power granted to him to issue the amnesty "to reward the allies of criminals and undermine the American prosecution authorities by trying them."
The newspaper pointed out that among the dozens who recently obtained a presidential pardon from Trump, many of them lied to investigators and obstructed sensitive federal investigations, and many of them were involved in committing crimes against unarmed civilians in Iraq with the aim of extending his political power and achieving personal gain.
The recent presidential pardons, which included the father of Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, former campaign manager Paul Manafort, and some mercenaries of the notorious American "Blackwater" company, known for its black and bloody record of murdering Iraqi civilians, sparked international criticism and rejection by the Iraqi authorities and the United Nations.
