In the interview she talks about her passion, reading.

Eichenau

- Marille Musolff has lived in Eichenau since 1966.

The 77-year-old was elected to the local council for the first time in 1982, after a break she ran again in 2002 and was active until 2014.

She was also a cultural advisor and is a member of the Women's Union.

She has been reading to nursing homes and Christmas parties for years.

In Corona times, people generally read more again.

Does that also apply to you?

No.

I've read a lot for years.

It's my favorite thing to do after the television program is so miserable.

I am also a regular customer in the library.

I go there at least once every four weeks and then get six to eight books.

What genre do you like to read?

Crime novels.

It's just that I don't really like all the Finns, Swedes and Russians that I used to read today.

It's too cruel for me.

Now I read a lot of books that are set in France.

The author Martin Walker and his police chief Bruno, for example, or by Sophie Bonnet and her commissioner in Provence and also the books by Jean-Luc Bannalec, which are set in Brittany.

I also read German authors: Felicitas Mayall, for example.

Maybe it has to do with age.

I prefer to read shallow things now.

I recently got five rather thick books from a friend: “The women of the Wolkenraths” by Elke Vesper.

Can you remember the first book you read yourself?

As a young girl around 15 years old, I read “Désirée” by Annemarie Selinko.

That is the story of Napoleon.

My brother used to read all these westerns.

I did that too.

There was a series of booklets called "Pete".

I devoured them.

A tip for our readers: Do you have a favorite author or a favorite book?

Not that direct.

Tastes are so different.

I also like reading fairy tales, not everyone likes that either.

In the run-up to Christmas I always read aloud in Eichenau.

In one year I even gave lectures at ten Christmas parties.

Since 2006 I have also been reading regularly in our nursing home.

This has now been discontinued due to Corona.

Hopefully that will be possible again next year.

In addition to printed books, there are now supplements such as e-books and audio books.

Which do you prefer and why?

I have not yet tried e-books, I have to admit.

My daughters recommend that to me too.

It's a practical thing to do on vacation, but otherwise I want to hold a book in my hand.

What are your favorite occasions to read?

Especially in the evening, from ten or half past eleven until I go to bed at noon.

Every now and then during the day an hour after eating.

If you wrote a book yourself, what would it be about?

Sometimes I think I have to write my life down.

But I don't think I would be able to do that.

This year we have published a book from the Women's Union in which we have all written down our thoughts on Corona.

That was a great success.

What do you do with books you read?

It's always difficult.

I used to have so many books.

I then took them to the book flea market in Groebenzell.

Throwing away books doesn't exist for me.

Then we still have this delivery point at the train station.

Sometimes I bring some there too.

And in the nursing home they also set up a room for the residents where they can get books.
