The meeting between Castres and Bayonne scheduled for Sunday during the 12th day of the Top 14 is postponed to a later date due to several positive cases of Covid-19 in the workforce of the Basque club.
In a press release, Aviron Bayonnais said that "these positive results came after the Challenge Cup match played on Saturday 19 December against Leicester Tigers".
The English club had itself declared, following this meeting, two symptomatic positive cases of Covid-19 in its workforce and its championship match scheduled for Saturday in Newcastle was canceled.
Basque leaders point to the responsibility of the organizer of the European Cup, the EPCR, wondering "about the consistency and effectiveness of the health protocol set up by the EPCR and its conditions of application much more flexible compared to those of the protocol of the National Rugby League ”.
Bayonne "can only deplore this situation which compromises the preparation of important deadlines in Top 14, namely the trip to Castres scheduled for tomorrow evening, postponed by the LNR, and the reception of the Section Paloise on Saturday January 2, 2021".
