Coronavirus: the President and the governors agreed that vaccination begins next Tuesday

President Alberto Fernández agreed this Saturday with the governors of the entire country that next Tuesday the operation to apply the Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus will begin.

“The idea is that when autumn comes we will have the highest number of people at risk vaccinated, that is my goal.

In the meantime, take care of ourselves and that our compatriots understand that the risk is latent and that crowds like those of the last few days must be avoided ”, said the Head of State from the Olivos Residence.

The president led a virtual summit to define the details of the vaccination campaign that will begin simultaneously throughout the country.

The doses will arrive next Monday in a refrigerated truck throughout the country, except in Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego where they will arrive by airplanes.

The President highlighted the amount of doses that are being distributed and said "we had an enormous possibility of access as no one in the world of the periphery has accessed."


The president was accompanied by the ministers of the Interior, Eduardo de Pedro, and of Health, Ginés González García, the secretary of access to health, Carla Vizzotti and the secretary general of the Presidency, Julio Vitobello.

The 300,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine that arrived in Ezeiza on Thursday are part of the first stage of the vaccination process, which is aimed at

health personnel

throughout the country.

This was stated by the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero, after the arrival of the Aerolineas Argentinas plane that transported the vaccines from Russia to Argentina.

Health personnel are the ones who "have the most direct and permanent contact with the virus," explained Cafiero.

Also the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, confirmed that the Government will initiate the vaccination campaign

The 56 thermal containers that arrived this Thursday from Russia first went to a warehouse of the Andreani company, in Avellaneda, in order to begin their separation into different batches.

These special containers were provided by the company DHL and keep the material at a temperature of 18 degrees below zero.

Some

116,000 health agents

, including vaccinators and support personnel, and 7,749 health facilities equipped to vaccinate, will participate in the vaccination plan, in addition to 10,000 volunteers who will join through the Activate Program.
