The Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal works will significantly reduce their bus offer from Monday, December 28th - monthly ticket holders are outraged.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- It was the bus driver who drew the passenger's attention shortly before Christmas: “Have you already seen the timetable change?” The municipal utility of Garmisch-Partenkirchen will significantly reduce the operation of the green local buses from this Monday.

It only goes through the town every hour - even on working days.

So far there has been a half-hourly service.

A new situation that causes trouble among the citizens.

"People are then penned up on the bus like sheep," complains a Garmisch-Partenkirchner who reported to the daily newspaper but does not want to read his name in the newspaper.

The elderly man cannot understand the restriction on driving.

“The number of infections is exploding.

Where do you have protection when you stand shoulder to shoulder on the bus? ”The pensioner fears that the introduction of the hourly service will mean that many more passengers will have to use the local bus at the same time.

“The community works accept an increased risk of infection for the people.

That’s the real mess. ”But not only that: He’s also interested in the transfer options.

"They also get worse," emphasizes the 61-year-old.

In addition, the waiting times for the bus increase.

The bus schedule has been adapted to the current Corona restrictions

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen municipal works are responsible for bus operations and provide information on the new timetables on their homepage.

Günther Rösch, Technical Director at the municipal company, confirms the change: “Currently, the Sunday and public holiday schedule also applies on working days.” At the same time, all lines only run until around 9 p.m.

"The end is adapted to the beginning of the curfew," notes Rösch.

Due to the exit ban, the last trip on line 1 ends at 9:12 p.m. at the Äußere Maximilianstraße stop, line 4 at 8:49 p.m. in Farchant and line 5 at 8:21 p.m. at the municipal works.

How long the hourly service will last has not yet been determined, according to Rösch.

The timetable changes apply "as long as the restrictions on public life are specified by the state government," emphasizes the technical director.

With the reduced timetable, the plants are reacting to the current restrictions due to the lockdown.

“Like in spring,” adds Rösch.

Rösch does not respond to the allegations of not complying with the hygiene protection in the buses.

He answers very pragmatically: “Without exception, only passengers with mouth and nose protection are transported.

The distance must be maintained independently. "

The angry passenger considers these requirements to be inadequate.

“The concept of keeping your distance bites.

Distance is no longer possible. ”In addition, as a monthly ticket holder, he sees himself being punished by the municipal works in the broader sense.

“The services have been reduced considerably.” Normally the local bus in the market town runs every 20 minutes; in June it was reduced to every half hour.
