Injured swan on the roof, deer in the reservoir: the Moosburg fire brigade had two unusual missions around Christmas.
Moosburg - The days around Christmas were actually comparatively quiet for the Moosburg fire department. Nevertheless, the comrades around Commander Gerhard Hochleitner had to move out a few times, among other things to rescue a swan from a roof and to pull a deer out of the water.
Swan on the roof
On a foggy late afternoon before Christmas, a swan "crashed into Jungheinrich's house wall in full flight," reported Gerhard Hochleitner when asked by FT.
An employee of the security company had observed the accident on her routine tour and alerted the fire brigade because the swan came to rest on the canopy of a storage area and could no longer fly due to its injury.
Using a ladder and landing net, the firefighters managed to catch the swan and then take it to a bird clinic in Oberschleißheim.
Deer in the reservoir
Also on Boxing Day, the comrades were alerted to an animal rescue around noon: A deer had fallen into the reservoir.
With the help of a boat and with the support of the Volkmannsdorf fire brigade, the emergency services pulled the animal out of the water - but here any help came too late.

Person included
In a traffic accident on the autobahn, the Moosburg fire brigade was called upon on December 22nd around 11 a.m. After the crash in which the driver was trapped in his vehicle, the first thing to do was to block the autobahn and use the Moosburg-Süd exit derive.
At the same time, the driver's door of the car involved in the accident was opened using a spreader and scissors in order to gently rescue the injured person from the vehicle together with the rescue service.
After the patient had been transported away by helicopter, the Florian's disciples still had to tie up the leaking supplies and remove the debris.

Carrying aid provided
In the immediate vicinity of the Moosburg fire station, the Floriansjünger were alerted to a baby carrier on December 26th.
Because the rescue service needed support, the comrades approached on foot to support the colleagues in carrying a sick person when they were on duty in Leinbergerstrasse.

Burned food
During the third deployment on Boxing Day, the fire brigade moved to Böhmerwaldstrasse because a “burning smell” had been detected there.
It quickly became apparent that “only” food was burnt in one apartment.
Quiet New Year's Eve?
All in all, there was nothing dramatic about Christmas, reports Hochleitner.
And he hopes that because of the curfew and the ban on firecrackers, things will remain calm on New Year's Eve - "if everyone adheres to it".
