Without a doubt, 2020 was a difficult year for many.
But the Covid-19 pandemic also brought with it (back) classics that the whirlpool of modern life seemed to have left behind.
With millions of people in lockdown, and theaters, restaurants, shops, and stadiums closed - in other words, with much of the world on hiatus, entertaining could be quite a challenge.
Here are some traditions recovered in the year of the coronavirus pandemic that, who knows, maybe they came back to stay.
Baked food
In the absence of restaurants and plenty of free time at home, people around the world returned to the grandmother's classic: baking.

And it wasn't just a hobby.

According to Michael Kocet, a licensed mental health counselor and professor and department chair in the Counseling Education Department at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, baking provides a sense of accomplishment, "especially in this period of distress and unknowns."
It is easy to understand then why so many people threw themselves into the kitchen and, in many cities, even led to a shortage of yeast.

Yes, it was the year of empty stadiums, airlines in check and the world in suspense.
But it was also the year of the rise of board games.
In the third quarter of the year, toy company Hasbro reported a 21% increase in game sales, with products like Monopoly becoming even more popular.

Haircuts at home
As the days - or weeks - went by in the confinement, and with establishments closed, including hair salons, to contain outbreaks, people had to cut their hair at home again.
Although many simply opted to grab the razor and shave off completely, other people got creative.

For those who have patios - and even for those who only have a balcony - growing at home represented a way of connecting with nature in the middle of the confinement (and, in some cases, a method to avoid starvation).

In the United States, Walmart converted several parking lots of its stores into drive-ins.
