Coronavirus: mountain rescue is not slowing down

Despite the closure of the ski lifts, the number of interventions remains relatively stable. The new snowfall is causing concern.

Announced by Jean Castex on November 26, the closure of ski lifts in ski resorts during the Christmas holidays had caused concern among mountain rescue professionals.

With, in particular, the fear of seeing accidents related to other practices, such as ski touring.

"The fact that people think that the ski areas are safe as usual worries us"

, explains Océane Vibert, director of La Chamoniarde, a prevention and information organization on mountain safety, based in Chamonix.
