About sixty graves in the cemetery of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne), place de Verdun, were desecrated in the night from Sunday to Monday, we learned this Monday afternoon by a tweet from the mayor of the town , Frédéric Valletoux (Act).

#Fontainebleau.

I am scandalized and disgusted by the discovery this morning of very many graves desecrated by swastikas.

Despicable and repulsive acts against which I will file a complaint.

“I am scandalized and disgusted by the discovery, this morning by the municipal services, of very many graves desecrated by swastikas.

It is a completely abject act, of incredible violence in its magnitude, ”comments the city councilor.

In all, sixty-seven stelae were vandalized in the part of the cemetery closest to the forest of Fontainebleau, an isolated and uncrowded area.

This affects both ancient and recent burials.

The vandalized stelae are located in the part of the cemetery closest to the forest of Fontainebleau.

Inscriptions already appeared in Melun

Large pink, white or silver swastikas were sprayed on the graves, as well as two mysterious inscriptions: "Charles" and "Biobananas".

These are reminiscent of similar inscriptions that appeared in different sectors of Melun during the month of November.

The word “Biobananas” had thus been inscribed on a fresco that borders the youth area of the Schuman district, but also on the footbridge that spans the Pénétrante or in the underground passage leading to the station.

Pink, white or silver swastikas have been sprayed on the graves.

First time this cemetery is hit

"This is a first, our cemetery has never been the target of such crimes," added Frédéric Valletoux.

Before specifying that "the old Jewish cemetery dating from the 19th century, located next to the main cemetery of the city, has not been touched".

The municipal services are in the process of contacting the families before proceeding with the cleaning of the graves, because, according to the procedure, they must be notified before any intervention.

The scientific police were present at the beginning of the afternoon to investigate.
