In the Ludwigstrasse, a woman from Bruck dared to do the unimaginable in Corona times.

Eight months pregnant, the master hairdresser picks up money and invests in her barber shop.

Fürstenfeldbruck -

In an industry that was affected by the first lockdown in spring and now had to close again, Marina Merk dared great things.

In 2016 she opened her hairdresser on Ludwigstrasse - in the Hardy's building.

In September, the landlord, Reinhard Klinke, approached the master hairdresser and offered her another space in the neighboring house to enlarge.

The 35-year-old, who was already pregnant, did not hesitate long.

“I had the idea of expanding the barber shop last year.” So she thought: “Then now!” After the baby was born, such a project would no longer be possible.

“The focus is on the next generation.” Without further ado, she closed the shop for ten days in November, tore down the wall facing the neighboring house and thus enlarged the shop space.

Despite pregnancy and the impending second lockdown at the time, "the offer came at the right time," says the 35-year-old.

Because, together with their employees, space was urgently needed.

The demand has risen more and more recently, customers have asked for appointments.

Due to the Corona measures and the safety distance, however, only five of the nine seats could be used until the renovation in November.

So the wall had to be out.

Landlord Reinhard Klinke organized craftsmen for the heavy work, such as demolition and drywall.

“I'm very grateful to him for that,” says the mother-to-be.

The 35-year-old then took turns doing the finishing touches with friends and family.

"Every day I hoped and prayed that everything would work out."

The new salon reopened on November 30th.

“The renovation will allow us to work in seven places,” explains Marina Merk.

Despite the second lockdown, the 35-year-old from Bruck is optimistic: "I have to accept it."

Was she afraid of infecting herself and the offspring with the corona virus?

“You always think about it,” says Merk.

“But I always worked to the best of my knowledge and belief to protect myself,” says the trained medical assistant.

Officially, she will go on maternity leave from January.

When the hairdressing trade is allowed to reopen, she can calmly concentrate on the upcoming birth: The team in the Fürstenfeldbruck branch and in the second salon in Odelzhausen is well positioned.

"I have complete confidence."
