Then things can really start

Erding

- A historic prick: Jakob Schwimmer received the first vaccination against the corona virus in the district.

He was among the ten citizens of the district who had an appointment at the vaccination center in the school gym on Lodererplatz in Erding on Sunday.

The next 76 vaccinations are scheduled for this Monday.

And with that the first batch of 100 doses of the vaccine is almost used up.

On Saturday at 3:02 p.m. the cool box with the ampoules arrived.

THW employees picked up the vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech, which was frozen at 70 degrees below zero, from a distribution center.

1000 doses are expected on Tuesday and Thursday, reported BRK managing director Gisela van der Heijden at the start of the vaccination on Sunday morning.

"Unfortunately, we don't know when exactly the delivery will arrive on Tuesday," she said.

The vaccination center will work at full capacity by Wednesday at the latest.

This means: 200 vaccinations per day in the hall and 80 more by the mobile vaccination team in nursing homes.

The first mobile deployment is planned for Wednesday in the Marienstift in Dorfen.

To organize these vaccinations, the BRK wrote to the nursing homes two weeks ago, explains the manager.

The preliminary run is necessary because the consent of legal guardians must also be obtained.

"The mobile vaccination team is accompanied by the police", revealed van der Heijden,

Schwimmer is happy that he received an early vaccination.

"With my previous illnesses, I really wanted to be there for the first installment," said the former mayor of St. Wolfgang.

After his cancer eleven years ago, he was a high-risk patient.

"I want to set an example: Go vaccinating," said the 71-year-old.

He has already held discussions with friends and family in order to persuade them.

Schwimmer survived it after a good 20 minutes.

After a brief discussion with the medical director, Dr.

Jörg Jakob received the injection in the upper arm from the medical assistant Beatrix Ertl in the vaccination booth.

In the end, he had to sit on a chair in the waiting area for a quarter of an hour.

What about side effects?

"I don't feel anything," he said - and was able to leave.

He has a second appointment in 18 to 21 days, and then the vaccination is over.

As of Monday, the vaccination center will be staffed by five employees: Project manager Christian König, Dr.

Jakob, two medical assistants and two administrative staff.

The interest is enormous, in the first 20 minutes on Tuesday 2329 people called.

All appointments until January 10th have now been taken.

To cope with the rush, the BRK hires two more administrative staff.

So from the turn of the year up to four telephones are busy at the same time.

The line also glowed on Sunday.

Iris Maier-Larcher took one call after the other.

So far, she has only received positive feedback, she said.

"The elderly in particular are totally grateful."

Project manager König is also happy that everything is running now.

The challenge was to set up everything from the contract on December 3rd.

"And the software wasn't activated until December 23," he said.

As an employee of the vaccination center, he is also in the group with the highest priority.

"But there are people who need it more urgently than I do," said the 38-year-old paramedic.

He will not be vaccinated that quickly.

Van der Heijden still had an important task to write history on Sunday.

She secured the empty first vaccine ampoule for the Erding Museum.
