The Helios Amper-Klinik Indersdorf is struggling with a corona outbreak.

As the Dachau District Office confirmed, six patients and three employees are infected.

Indersdorf

- The around 150 employees of the Helios Amper Clinic in Indersdorf have been subjected to a weekly PCR series test since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.

This is intended to identify employees who are infected with the coronavirus, but who have not yet shown any symptoms of illness, and immediately isolate them in quarantine.

These efforts have been intensified since autumn when the employees were also subjected to so-called rapid antigen tests in addition to the PCR tests.

In any case, patients were only admitted if they had a negative test result.

The reason for this strict approach is clear: "We know what our clientele is," said Dr.

Björn Johnson, chief physician at the Indersdorfer Clinic, which specializes in geriatric medicine.

And emphasizes: “We were therefore extremely careful.” The fact that his house remained Corona-free for nine months also shows “that we probably did a few things right”.

Preventing a corona outbreak in the long term is unfortunately impossible - in the middle of the second wave of pandemics.

In this respect, Johnson and his colleagues were not surprised when the bad news hit him on Monday: A nurse was found to be corona infected as part of the serial testing.

A comprehensive test immediately initiated yesterday showed that six patients and three other employees have also been positive.

After all, says Johnson: “We noticed it extremely early.” According to this, all employees were still negative in the series test shortly before Christmas;

the “effect”, according to Johnson, “must have occurred at Christmas”.

In other words, since the nurse was probably only infected during Christmas, she had little time to pass the virus on to colleagues and patients.

Currently, emphasizes the chief physician, none of the infected is “really seriously ill”.

The district office also confirmed that they all only had “flu-like symptoms”.

Nevertheless, the infected were immediately transferred to Dachau and a ten-day admission freeze for the Indersdorf hospital was imposed.

As a result, Johnson said, the situation in the otherwise always very busy clinic would “be straightened out as best as possible.

We have more space for our patients ”.

In addition, further developments would be closely followed, analyzed and assessed, and “even more, more closely-knit tests” would be carried out.

According to Johnson, the goal is clear: "That we can get the situation under control quickly with these measures and that we will be completely corona-free again in a few days."

The medical professional emphasizes that the Dachau hinterland can still be supplied with an emergency doctor.

So far, the corona outbreak in the hospital has only affected nurses, but not doctors.

In any case, it is important for Johnson to assure that the elderly in the district in particular should not be concerned: The Indersdorfer Klinik will continue to be a safe place in the field of geriatric medicine; where they can relax ”.
