Lidl sneakers sell for gold on the internet

Customers flocked to the textile collection of the German brand offered in stores in small quantities. Much of it ended up on resale platforms.

Successful business transaction for Lidl.

The German distributor sold all its stock of sneakers in its colors this Sunday in its stores.

As last July in Belgium, customers gathered on the shelves to try to get the sneakers at low prices but in limited edition, and in a few minutes stocks were exhausted.

Some took the opportunity to put their loot up for sale on sites where their prices have soared.

Initially sold for 12.99 euros in stores, some had a resale price of 295 euros on Leboncoin and even 4900 euros on eBay!

The textile collection released in France this Sunday also included a t-shirt at 4.99 euros, a pair of slides at 4.99 euros and sports socks at 2.99 euros.

All of these items quickly ran out of stock, ending up on second-hand sales sites with tenfold prices.

Why such an interest ?

Lidl France had solicited influencers to promote its products.

Personalities like Djibril Cissé have posted themselves on social networks with these brightly colored sneakers.

In addition, the group had warned that these items would be sold "

in limited quantities

", giving customers the impression of owning a rare product.

The sign is customary because of this.

Last June, it had already experienced resounding success with the flash sale of its “Monsieur cuisine connect” robot.

The near future will tell us if buyers have given in to the temptation to afford these sneakers for crazy prices!
