It is estimated that Huldai will announce his resignation only with the date of submission of the lists to the Knesset - the fourth of February.
In addition, he is expected to announce additional personalities who have joined him.
One of them is Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn, who earlier today informed Defense Minister Bnei Gantz of his decision to leave Blue and White, and join Huldai's new party.
"We will bring news to hundreds of thousands of Israelis who feel they have no political home - and we will do so in deeds and not in words," Nissenkorn said.
Huldai will be able to announce his resignation from the mayor of Tel Aviv upon swearing in the next Knesset.
From the moment of his resignation, mayoral elections should be held up to 60 days later.
If he does not pass the blocking percentage, he will be able to remain in office.
Huldai's entourage says that "he will run for mayor until the last minute."
In a tweet posted on his Twitter account yesterday, Huldai wrote: "Hundreds of thousands of Israelis feel they have no home in the current political system. We will raise our heads and give them back their hope. After joining a number of key figures in the Israeli public, it is time to present a clear alternative."
Meanwhile, Israel Today has learned that three white-brush MKs are expected to join Nissenkorn on Huldai's list, their sons Einav Kabala, and apparently Ram Shefa and another MK. It was also learned that Nissenkorn refused to be No. 2 of the opposition chairman Yair Lapid and will probably be No. 2 of Huldai and the two will put together the list.
Lapid's office said in response to the publication: "We wish Nissenkorn a lot of success in his future endeavors."

A source close to the details told Israel Today that the Minister of Justice "debated a lot until the last minute. But recently realized that blue and white are ideologically moving away from him. He is a center-left man and felt that the party was going somewhere else that no longer corresponded with his ideology."
