In about a month, on February 1, the winter matriculation season will begin in the shadow of the Corona, and yet tens of thousands of high school students do not go to school and are forced to study from home.

Yesterday, after long days of not updating the colors of the cities in the traffic light model, the decision was made - and once again hundreds of thousands of students in red and orange cities found themselves at home, including tens of thousands of high schoolers forced to break their heads in zoom.
Among the cities where there will be no studies: Ashdod (in several neighborhoods in the city), Herzliya, Hadera, Nahariya, Afula, Beit Shemesh, Tiberias, Jerusalem, Netivot, Arad, Shefar'am.
The absurdity is that in some localities these are of a low socio-economic rank, so there is a fear that the situation will only increase and increase the gaps.
Yesterday, a new record was set for Corona's sick students in the education system: in total, there are 9,205 sick students in the entire education system.
At the same time, there are 1,768 sick teaching staff.
As you may recall, the Knesset's Education Committee reversed the cabinet's decision earlier this week - instead of all 5th-10th graders staying home and 11th-12th graders across the country returning to classes to prepare for matriculation, it was decided to return to the traffic light model.
This means that students of God and above study in schools only in green and yellow cities.
In doing so, the ability to study for matriculation within schools with their teachers was taken away from high school students in red and orange cities.
Shir Sasson is a 12th grade student from Givat Zeev, which is considered a red locality, and therefore her studies do not take place there. Also, the city where she studies, Jerusalem, is red. "I will do all the preparation for the matriculation exams that I approach alone from home.
"There are subjects in mathematics that are confusing, there is no classroom management, no board, and it is not always possible to ask the teacher a question - there it is just discouraging," she says.

She says, "I feel like I'm freaking out because I need to be my own teacher. I want to go back to class at least for matriculation, and think we need to be accepted to give us a chance at fair grades."
According to the traffic light layout, studies in kindergartens, grades 1-4 and afternoons will take place in all localities in a regular format.
So are studies in special education settings.
Frameworks for children and youth at risk and boarding schools will also continue to operate as usual in all localities.
At the same time, the open-air activity will continue to take place in all localities, in groups of up to 19 students and an education staff member, but there will be no outdoor activities and trips.
Meanwhile, the closure of educational institutions continues.
The Ministry of Education yesterday reported 634 closed kindergartens out of 21,000 kindergartens, and another 8 schools closed.
What continues to rise is the number of students in solitary confinement - 48,705 students are in solitary confinement and another 3,592 teaching staff in solitary confinement.
