In politics, nobody wants to be a pigeon.

The comparison leaves the leader in the basement of respect.

Pigeons are too peaceful birds

, without talent or courage for the battle of existence.

And, because they are much clumsier than a hummingbird and much less fierce than a carancho, they tend to end up injured and even killed on the way.

In the 1990s, two Peronists vied for power.

Carlos Menem defeated José Octavio Bordón in the 1995 presidential elections.

The Riojan liked to compare himself to an Eagle

.

And, although he was born in Rosario,

the former governor of Mendoza was called "the Condor"

for his years in Andean territory.

None wanted to be a dove, of course.

The poultry intern is reproduced in politics each time they confront two different sectors:

one more aggressive and the other more in favor of concertation.

That is what is happening today in Together for Change, the opposition coalition that has just lost power just a year ago and that, due to partisan, territorial and parliamentary weight, is

the one that maintains the best conditions to challenge this current Peronism,

which Cristina Kirchner leads so far without anyone dares to discuss anything with her.

Let's change has several important leaders.

Alfredo Cornejo presides over the UCR firmly and Martín Lousteau and Mario Negri are parliamentary leaders with future electoral expectations.

What to say about Elisa Carrió, warrior of a thousand battles and undisputed owner of the label called Coalición Cívica.

But

the dispute for leadership is raised between the two PRO referents: Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Mauricio Macri.

The head of the Buenos Aires government is

the emerging adversary

that visualizes Kirchnerism and the former president

refuses to abandon the leadership

that led him to the Casa Rosada.

Things are not easy for either of them.

Rodríguez Larreta

faces the offensive of Kirchnerism

, willing to deprive him of as much income as possible for the City.

They need to show that there are weak flanks in their management of government, notoriously more effective than that of some Peronist governors, and corner it in any way.

After a few months in which they played to differentiate themselves, Alberto Fernández and Sergio Massa ended up as

docile companions of the strategy designed by Cristina and Máximo Kirchner.

All against Horacio.

Hours before the end of this complicated 2020, the Government activated the institutional mechanisms to change the terms of co-participation and

lower the security income to the City.

It was the signal that Rodríguez Larreta feared to respond with his claim before the Supreme Court of Justice.

I would have preferred that everything happened faster to have an answer before the judicial fair.

It could not be and will have to wait for the end of the summer to know if he has any chance of recovering

those $ 60,000 million with which he watered the ferns that reveal Cristina.

Those press conferences at Quinta de Olivos together with the President and Axel Kicillof were a long way off.

Rodríguez Larreta

buried the profile of a dove

the day his resources were pruned and is now trying to consolidate his opposition profile without losing the aura of moderation.

"If we want to regain power one day,

we have to get the votes of those who left with Alberto

a year ago and are now disenchanted," explain many of those Cambiemos leaders.

Entering the stick against all Peronism, they believe, would be to

stay forever at the threshold of 40% of voters

with which they were defeated in 2019.

Macri's gaze, and especially that of those who accompany him, is different.

For the former president, the appropriate strategy is to

attack Kirchnerism thoroughly

without worrying about adding new audiences in the future.

In that scenario,

there is no worthwhile self-criticism.

Everything that is done now is wrong and everything that was done during the previous government was good.

They seek to nail Rodríguez Larreta's pigeon vest and

get excited when they are called hawks.

Cristina's crack suits them well.

The ultramacrist vein finds heat

in the heat of social media.

The former president

is comforted by receiving tweeters

who defend him and who post photos with fervent praise for the former first lady, Juliana Awada.

Macri

celebrated this week

a tweet from the Cumbian singer "El Dipy" and there are even those who include him in lists of possible candidates in the legislative elections of 2021. That yes, the Ecuadorian consultant, Jaime Durán Barba, never saw it coming.

Elisa Carrió invited Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, the Cordovan radical Mario Negri and the lilitos of the Civic Coalition to her birthday.

Mauricio's hawks tweet furiously.

Horacio's pigeons

cross, for example, on Carrió's birthday.

Last Saturday they arrived at the Exaltación de la Cruz house, in addition to Rodríguez Larreta and the lilitos from the Civic Coalition, the radical Cordovan Negri, Diego Santilli and Alfonso Prat Gay.

Macri and Patricia Bullrich, on the other hand, sent greetings.

It is clear that when the drums for next year's electoral battle sound, the space between doves and hawks is going to be significantly reduced.

"The key now is how we challenge Kirchnerism for power,"

says Jorge Macri, who downplays this low-flying controversy.

In the same vein, the mayor of Pinamar, Martín Yeza, expressed a good relationship with Rodríguez Larreta and recent host of Macri.

"By 2021 I see that

There is a sector of the party that is more vindictive of what was done and that seeks to differentiate itself from Kirchnerism,

the Group A hawks and the Group B hawks,

who believe that we have to recover the ambition to transform Argentina, "Yeza differentiated in the poultry intern , with a calculation that sounded a bit like a blood test.

Group A or Group B,

everyone wants to be a hawk these days

and nobody likes to be called a dove when it comes to winning or losing a decisive election.

Perhaps for the opposition, it is not so much about flying higher but about

looking more closely

at what is happening on the territory of a country that has been in an economic collapse for nine years with the indelible marks of Cristina, Macri and now Alberto.
