Republican Majority Leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, announced today that the House will vote to override President Donald Trump's "veto" on the defense budget bill of $ 740 billion tomorrow, the day after the House of Representatives overruled the presidential veto yesterday.
Reuters reported that the Senate is expected to override Trump's veto on the bill, as it has already passed the bill with more than two-thirds of the vote enough to bypass it.
Trump, in turn, strongly attacked the leaders of the Republican Party in Congress, saying in a tweet that “the weak and tired leadership of the Republicans will allow the passage of the defense budget bill,” adding that it was “a cowardly, disgraceful act and complete submission by weak people in front of major technology companies.”
McConnell ignored Trump's tweets and set a date for tomorrow to vote to overturn the president's objection to the defense budget bill, but Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders lodged a procedural objection that could postpone the vote until next Friday.
The outgoing president had objected to the defense budget bill for 2021 for not canceling the law known as "Article 230", which protects the legal status of social networks that he accuses of being biased against him.
