US President Donald Trump reacted gruffly to the fact that the House of Representatives rejected its veto on the defense budget - also with numerous votes from members of his own party.

The leadership of the Republican Party was "weak and tired," the president wrote on Twitter.

The rejection of his veto against the so-called National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an "act of cowardice and total submission," wrote Trump.

It needs a "new and energetic Republican leadership."

The demand is also likely to be a point against senior Republican Mitch McConnell, the Republican majority leader in the US Senate.

After McConnell had been loyal to Trump for a long time after his election defeat, he finally congratulated the Democrat Joe Biden on his election victory in mid-December.

Trump is apparently still angry that Republicans have gradually backed away from his claim that he won the presidential election.

"Can you imagine what would have happened if the Republicans had stolen a presidential election from the Democrats?" Asked Trump in another tweet - and the answer was immediately: "All hell would break loose." By recognizing Biden's election victory the Republican leadership had taken the "path of least resistance."

Trump's remarks are explosive for the Georgia election

Although Trump is unlikely to make any major political decisions in the last few days before taking office to Joe Biden on January 20, his remarks are still significant.

In the US state of Georgia, for example, senatorial elections are due next week, which will determine whether the Republicans or the Democrats will have a majority in the Senate in Washington in the future.

Many Republicans fear that Trump's tirades of alleged electoral fraud could cost the party a majority in the Senate.

The US president is expected to travel to Georgia on January 4th to support Republican candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler.

Georgia usually falls to the Republicans, but Biden won a slim majority there in the presidential election.

Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock can also hope for a victory in the race for senatorial posts.

It would be a fiasco for the Republicans.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump can look forward to at least one good news.

According to a poll, he is the "most admired man" in the US.

In an annual poll by the US Gallup Institute, he made it to first place.
