The Loch Ness Monster, which is said to live in the Scottish lake, has been a fascination with tourists for decades.
This year there were even more sightings than usual.
Again and again, locals and visitors report on
sightings of the monster in the lake.
Photos are circulating on the web and cause speculation.
A recent photo of a tourist has officially been declared a
new Nessie sighting
.
As experts say, there are currently more and more
eyewitness reports
, even though the number of visitors to the region has decreased due to Covid-19.
It wasn't until September that photos of an English tourist that are supposed to show Nessie became public. *

Spotted Nessie?
Visitor presents photo of a mysterious animal in Loch Ness
Karen Scott, 54, from Aberdeen, a tourist, spotted an
unidentified creature swimming in the Scottish Sea while
visiting
the
ruins of Urquhart Castle
with her partner
.
The woman wasn't sure what to think of it and took a few photos of the mysterious animal.
Now the pictures have been recorded by the official "
Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register
" as a positive Nessie sighting.
Scott told The Mirror magazine: “We walked through Urquhart Castle in one weekend.
I was just looking over the lake from the castle when I saw something in the water.
At first I thought it was a bird sitting on the water, but my partner said it was definitely not.
When I turned on my cell phone camera, the
creature slowly dived underwater and then reappeared a little further
.
That's when I took the photos.
Then it did the same a few more times until it was much further away. "
Scott's partner estimates that the creature was the
size of a very large seal
.
"But when we spoke to the guides at the castle they said it was very rare for a seal to be this high up on Loch Ness, so I don't know what it was," adds Karen Scott.

Loch Ness monster: more sightings in 2020 despite corona pandemic
Gary Campbell, who runs the official
Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register
, said
2020 was an unexpectedly strong year for new Nessie reports
: “As with everyone else around the world, 2020 was a very different year in Loch Ness .
The main tourist attraction, Urquhart Castle, would normally welcome more than 500,000 visitors, but as you can imagine, the numbers have been severely limited by the Covid crisis.
However, there were still a significant number of Nessie sightings in 2020. "
Campbell adds that some sightings were made online with a live camera.
People from all over the world take part
in the “hunt” for the
Loch Ness monster
via the
Loch Ness webcam
.
Some of the Nessie sightings were reported through the webcam.
However, during the year Nessie was also seen in person by some of the few visitors, like Karen, who made it to the Loch - and was also spotted by local residents who live nearby.
"It's great to see Nessie keep coming up despite a global crisis, so we can be sure that she's still there to welcome her when more people come to visit," said Gary Campbell.
Karen Scott, meanwhile, isn't sure what she saw in November, but says that
if it was a seal, she certainly didn't move like one
: “It didn't dive underwater, it went slowly underwater.
It didn't move like a seal would. ”
