NEW - A limited edition of the NASA watch dedicated to the elite unit will be auctioned in January by Artcurial for the benefit of Police orphans.

For one week, the Artcurial auction house will set up on the Riviera, at the Hermitage hotel, in Monte Carlo, from January 19 to 21.

On the program: five prestigious vacations, between jewelry, luxury bags and rare watches.

Among the lots offered during the Collection of Watches sale, is a rare Omega Speedmaster from a special series imagined in 2018 for the RAID, the elite unit of the French National Police.

A piece that will be awarded for the benefit of the Cultural and Social Sports Association of the RAID and the Association of Police Orphans, on which no costs will be collected in addition to the auction.

The RAID, which has just celebrated its 35th anniversary, had a limited ST Dupont edition of 500 in 2010 dedicated to the case engraved with the unit's motto

, "Serve without failing"

.

For the twentieth anniversary of the elite unit, Bell & Ross had created a BR 01-Type Intervention in steel produced in 50 copies.

A piece in particular offered to Nicolas Sarkozy, then President of the Republic.

More recently, one could find French watches signed MAT Watches near the association of the personnel of the RAID.

But also, a few months ago, at the end of 2018, connected Garmin Tactix Charlie's stamped with the RAID emblem.

A limited edition of 556 engraved and numbered copies, a nod to the 5.56 mm caliber of the assault rifles used by the unit, delivered with a bronze RAID medallion.

Over the years, since its founding in 1985, the RAID has therefore given rise to a good number of limited editions, unit watches, intended for these elite police officers as well as their admirers.

This Omega model comes from a series produced in 2018 with Parisian watchmaker Antoine de Macedo.

The screwed back of this steel chronograph is stamped with the RAID motto.

With a diameter of 42 mm, it carries an 1861 caliber.
