Update from December 29th, 6.11 a.m
.: The current
corona case numbers
in Germany are partially comparable with the values of the previous week.
The
Robert Koch Institute
(RKI) expressly points out that fewer people are tested and less data is transmitted to the RKI during the “Christmas holidays, at the turn of the year and on the surrounding days”.
This should be taken into account when interpreting the number of cases.
In the past 24 hours,
12,892 new corona cases
and
852 further deaths
in connection with Sars-CoV-2 have been recorded, reports the RKI.
There are currently around
355,900 active corona cases
in Germany
.
The
7-day incidence
in Germany on Tuesday morning is

Corona in Germany: Now corpse transport in column through East Germany - "We have a traffic jam of hundreds of dead"
Update from December 28, 9.48 p.m.:
A column has been driving
coffins from Dresden to Thuringia
without ceasing since Monday morning
.
Crematoria in Saxony are apparently overloaded.
Alternative mortuary camps were set up and a private undertaker was called in to assist.
The
corona situation
is currently particularly dramatic in eastern Germany.
“We have a traffic jam of hundreds of dead,” says Dresden's mayor Eva Jähnigen (Greens) of the
picture
, “because in addition to the excessive
death rate in Dresden
, we receive corpses from neighboring circles.
Due to the failure of a furnace, the city itself can only carry out 40 to 50 burns a day instead of 60. "
Three vans are now in use.
They each loaded four coffins and are supposed to transport
a total of 100 dead in 24 hours
from Dresden to a crematorium at the Altenburg-Nobitz airfield, reports an insider from
Bild
.
Larger convoys or trucks are not used in order to avoid images of huge amounts of coffins, as they once shocked the citizens of Bergamo, Italy.
"We are now using every opportunity
to bring the
dead to crematoria in neighboring
federal states as far as Hessen
to be burned," explains Jähnigen, "everything is done with the greatest piety."
In Germany since the beginning of died
coronavirus pandemic
now totaling
over 30,000 people
after an infection.
The Robert Koch Institute rates the risk in the current management report as very high.
Although the
incidence
value
(currently 158) and
R value
(currently 0.74) fell slightly again, the RKI fears a fallacy due to the low reporting activity over the holidays.
There are again more people in the intensive care units than the day before.
348 deaths
were reported.
33 percent of the treated corona patients died on Monday.
Corona: Germany crosses shocking border - virologist names concrete threshold for vaccination breakthrough
Update from December 28, 6:24 p.m .:
Hard lockdown, curfew.
A big difference can
hardly be felt at the moment
, despite the sometimes tough
measures in the Corona crisis
.
Will the vaccination start ensure that there will soon be a noticeable improvement?
“We really have to vaccinate a large part of the population first to really see an effect,” said
top virologist Melanie Brinkmann
in the
ZDF “heute journal”
.
Members of risk groups urgently need to be the first in line to prevent possible fatal courses.
"I guess when we
have vaccinated
40 to 50 percent
we will really feel a difference," Brinkmann now predicts.
Speed and caution are required.
The sword of Damocles is called
mutation
.
The virus variant that emerged in England, for example, is significantly more contagious than its original form and is currently on the advance across Europe.
Christian Drosten confirms this, but reassures me that there is still no cause for concern.
There are currently many indications that the common vaccine also works against it.
Do you need
a new vaccine
for the
new virus variant
?
There should soon be information about the currently rampant corona mutation.
However, the pathogen could change again and again.
A normal process with flu viruses.
Virologist Melanie Brinkmann also fears that vaccine development will not be able to keep up with mutations.
“That is a danger if you
let the virus run free,
” she explains, “that would not be a good idea, because it gives the virus the chance to spread further, to change.
“And it may indeed be possible that
vaccines
like the one we have now running no longer work as well or perhaps no longer work at all,” she warns, “that can happen and that is why it is important to keep the virus on now well kept in check. "
Corona virus in Germany: Despite lockdown - day trippers overrun winter sports resort
Update from December 28, 4:22 p.m.: Mile-long
queues in front of
Winterberg
.
The North Rhine-Westphalian winter sports resort is almost overrun.
Despite the
lockdown
and closed pistes, countless visitors, especially from the Ruhr area, were drawn to the Sauerland.
But it is not only here that winter sports fans storm toboggan runs and hiking areas.
The main road to the
A46
was completely blocked.
“Don't travel there or turn around!” Is the
urgent
appeal of the
city of Winterberg
on Facebook.
Those responsible can understand the impulse to visit the wintry Sauerland, “but it is now so full that there is hardly any parking space left and the
traffic jam extends far before Winterberg
”, they write.

Corona pandemic in Germany: Nationwide 7-day incidence has fallen
Update from December 28, 10.16 a.m
.: The
7-day incidence
has
fallen
to
157.8
, reports
the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) (data status: December 28, 12 a.m.).
On Sunday the value was 161.
In
Saxony
(371.3)
the 7-day incidence is still particularly high.
According to the current RKI dashboard,
Thuringia
(288.2) is in second place.
The
R value
is currently below 1, can be read in the Covid-19 management report from Sunday evening.
But the RKI also points out that this value
"may be underestimated
".
Since the Corona cases would "only be detected, recorded and transmitted with a delay" during the holidays.
According to the RKI report, the 7-day R-value on Sunday was
0.83
(Saturday: 0.89).
The value reflects the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
The 7-day R means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 83 more people.
In the intensive care units,
5,604 Covid-19 patients
(previous day: 5,562) have to be treated and
3,011 of them have to be artificially ventilated
(previous day: 2,960).
This can be seen from the data in the
DIVI intensive care register
.
Currently, of 23,890 intensive care beds, 4,065 are still free.
Apart from that, there is an emergency reserve of 10,564 additional intensive care beds that can be set up within 7 days.
Corona: Germany crosses shocking border for the first time
Update from December 28, 6:09 a.m

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI),
348 deaths have been
recorded in
the past 24 hours
.
In addition,
10,976 new corona infections
were reported.
Corona in Germany: RKI reports almost 11,000 new infections in Germany
"During the holidays and at the turn of the year, it should be noted when interpreting the number of cases that on the one hand fewer people usually visit a doctor, which means that fewer samples are taken and fewer laboratory tests are carried out," the RKI points out on its website.
The current corona case numbers are therefore only partially comparable with numbers from the previous weeks.
RKI reports the current number of corona cases (data as of December 28, 12 a.m.)
So far,
1,651,834 people in Germany have
been proven to be infected with the coronavirus, the RKI announced (data as of December 28, 12 a.m.).
30,126 deaths
have been recorded since the coronavirus-related pandemic began.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at around 1,255,700.

According to the
intensive care register
, the
nationwide emergency reserve of intensive care beds
is 10,580.

Update from December 27th, 5.30 p.m.:
Gradually,
from December 27th, the
vaccination centers

corona
virus, will
open
.
An example: the arena hall in

.
Since this Sunday afternoon, doctors, nurses and nurses have been

SARS-CoV-2 pathogen
.
There are 80 vaccination booths there, making the hall
the largest of six

Corona in Germany: vaccination campaign is running - but every second hospital corridor shows traces of the virus
Update from December 27th, 11:01 a.m.:
In the
Covid 19 pandemic
, the
staff in clinics must
fear becoming infected at work.
A French meta-analysis by scientists at the Nantes University Hospital is now examining where the air in hospitals is most heavily contaminated with viruses.
It was expected that
coronaviruses would be found in the samples
in
intensive care units
.
However, normal
corridors and toilets
are also repeatedly contaminated.
In the intensive care units,
over 25 percent of
the samples were contaminated, compared to almost 11 percent in other wards.
The highest percentage of positive samples came from
publicly accessible corridors
(56 percent) - but only 16 samples were taken there.
In general, every
third test
(33.3 percent) from public clinical areas was positive.
Toilets and bathrooms with a positive rate of almost 24 percent - 5 out of 21 samples - turned out to be additional risk locations.
The authors suspect
that this is probably because these rooms are
small and poorly ventilated
.
However, the particles of the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen are usually not viable.
Protection against illness - Corona vaccinations started in Germany
The results of the study show that it is important for
nurses and hospital staff
to be among the first to be vaccinated against the virus.
The nationwide vaccination campaign started on Sunday in Germany.
Initially, mobile teams were used primarily in retirement homes.
In
Berlin
,
North Rhine-Westphalia
and Magdeburg, the first people were treated with the vaccine that morning.

The vaccine had arrived there early in the morning.

Corona numbers in Germany: News on new infections and fatalities
Update from December 27, 7:29 a.m
.: More than
13,700 new corona infections
within 24 hours and
356 new deaths
with
Covid-19
: The RKI reported 13,755 more daily cases of infection on this Sunday morning.
The previous highs have been more than
30,000 cases
.
The so-called
seven-day incidence
on Sunday was
161.3
.
The day before it was
170.7
.
The seven-day incidence is an essential measure for the imposition and relaxation of corona measures such as the current
lockdown
.
The aim of the federal government is to reduce the incidence to
below 50
.
However: Since not all
health authorities
transmit data
on the weekend
, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually
lower
on Sundays and Mondays
than on other days of the week.
A good 22,700 new infections were reported last Sunday.
Corona in Germany: the beginning has been made!
Woman receives first vaccination - RKI does not trust current figures
Update from December 26, 10:36 p.m.:
The
R value in Germany
is currently below 1, reports the RKI in the daily status report on the
corona pandemic
.
But how does that fit together with the increasing number of cases?
After all, a value below 1 describes that the virus does not spread any further.
Two kinds of explanations are needed for this.
On the one hand, the
number of people infected with corona in Germany is
currently immensely high.
This automatically means a high number of
new infections
.
Even if not every infected person infects another person.
On the other hand, the RKI also notes that the figures are
not necessarily reliable
during the
holidays
.
"Covid cases are only detected, recorded and transmitted with a delay, so that the R-value may also be underestimated," the experts explain.
Nationwide, there were
14,455 new cases
compared to the previous day
.
The overall German
7-day incidence
is therefore
171 infections per 100,000 inhabitants
.
The situation is currently particularly acute in eastern Germany, especially
south of Dresden
.
The incidence in the entire area is over 500, in the Altenburger Land district even at 617.5.

," the Health Minister estimates.
400 vaccinations are carried out daily in the vaccination centers.
Another 100 from the mobile doctors.
The state had allocated
12,000 vaccination appointments

Coronavirus: Hotspots in Eastern Germany - "The infection situation is worrying"
Update from December 26th, 2:50 p.m.:
The
Middle East of
the Federal Republic remains
Germany's
corona hotspot
.
If you look at the dashboard of the RKI, five districts colored in pink catch the eye.
There the
7-day incidence is
above the value of 500 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week.

Saxony had
the highest incidence
on Saturday
with a value of
404
, followed by
Thuringia
with a value of
