"I was looking to connect my heart into employment."

Did you buy an apartment or a house at a good time, or did you decide to renovate the existing house?

Mazel Tov!

Now say welcome to a complex process, which in many cases, when done alone and without proper professional guidance, can lead to an incomplete outcome and a feeling that "something is missing".

One of the important factors in the process is the interior design, but many people ask themselves why do we even need an interior designer?

What is the problem with choosing all the items so that they work with each other in harmony and in a practical way?

Or in short - why not design alone and save a few shekels?

A-what-what, as simple as it sounds, in most cases we do not have the necessary tools, thinking and professionalism of an interior designer to achieve the result we dreamed of, in the budget we are willing to invest.

The one who brings all these tools is Yael Shavit, owner of the interior design firm "Y interiors", who is currently celebrating five years since its inception.

Shavit, a mother of three from Givatayim, decided about eight and a half years ago to change direction in her life and turned to the field of interior design, an area where she finds passion and love.

"Interior design is actually my second career," she says, "I come from economics and finance and have a master's degree in these fields. I worked for about a decade in finance at various leading companies in the economy. Eight and a half years ago, when I gave birth to my eldest daughter, I decided I Wants to show her that her mother is very successful also because she does what she loves, and not just because she necessarily only deals with what she has learned.

"Even before the birth I knew I was not in the job I love.

I was good, progressed and got coveted jobs, but I was not really happy.

I was looking to connect my heart into employment.

During the maternity leave, I found myself in a kind of search, because suddenly they gave me a gift - to deal not only with my daughter, but also with myself.

I had time to think in depth about what I want to do when I grow up, and since I was already quite big I felt it was now or never and I decided to combine work with studies in design.

"After studying the field in depth for three years, I felt ripe to open a new page and set out on my own, as a designer."

Does your experience in the field of finance help you in working as a designer, or are these completely different fields?

"The toolbox I brought with me gave me a lot of confidence in the new field as well. First of all being independent from day one and running my business, but of course also in front of customers. I bring management experience and know how to manage the project at the highest budget, suppliers and schedules. Into the design process is a connection to the business, economic and managerial world, and that is something that is unique to me. "

"Brings to every project managerial experience at the highest level."

"In the test of the result, there are no houses in my designs that look the same."

The interior design process, says Shavit, includes a deep acquaintance and building trust between the designer and customers.

"When I start designing a home I look at it not just at the design level, but at the project level," she explains, "which is also something my previous life prepared me for, I understand what the real budget is for the project and adjust clients' dreams and needs to that budget.

" , I go through with the clients a process of getting to know where they understand who they are, what the family composition is, the lifestyle inside the house and what changes are expected in the coming years.

For example, are more children expected to join the family, or are the older children about to leave home.

"Even if it's a home renovation or a new home that I join in the design process already at the planning stage, the goal is actually to make a kind of 'decade' plan, which will answer the question of what life will look like in the coming years. "Then what they want, and then how I can make their dreams come true."

And what happens after the acquaintance process?

"I look at the space in question, link the physical data to needs and dreams and understand what needs to be done to connect them according to the lifestyle and desires of the customers. According to all these, and of course according to the budget, I make plans, accompany and supervise the renovation process. The base of the house and then we approach the 'dressing' process. "

What is meant by "clothing"?

"This is the common term for the home design process. Suppose customers bought an apartment from a contractor or second hand, or they renovate an existing apartment, now they need to 'dress' it. This process includes, for example, designing the carpentry that suits them in the kitchen, choosing living room furniture. And according to the questions, do you host a lot and what kind of hospitality do you like? This is really thinking designed to pour content into the house, make precise choices that are perfectly suited to the different spaces in terms of sizes, colors and style and of course maintaining a uniform and harmonious design language throughout the house. The smallest in the house, up to the level of the picture in the living room or the chairs in the dining area.

"In any such process, from the acquaintance to the end of dressing the house, I of course know how to connect my clients with the best suppliers and professionals and accompany them hand in hand from A to T.

By the way, I also stay in touch with my clients, and in every home I renovate or plan, it turns out that I am invited to the end of a project in the kitchen, which is the heart of the home. "

"Accompanies customers hand in hand throughout the process."

Working collaboratively with clients, while managing the project from start to finish and connecting the space to the family or person living in the home, has led Shavit to a situation where many of her clients return to her second home or further renovation.

"I know how to flow with clients and adapt myself to them, and I am very total in my projects," she says, "I get to a point where clients do not buy a vase without asking me, sometimes even a year after I have finished working with them.

" It is a process of gaining trust. , And the second the customers realize that whoever is in front of them is a full partner in their interests, they release the reins for me because they know the house is in good hands.

It's very important to me, and it's something I always tell all my clients, that with any budget, home design will be complete.

I do not have a situation where the house is half finished and at any point in time I always keep my finger on the pulse, so that there is a budget left for even the smallest details - for pictures, curtains or carpet, so that when customers enter the house - it will be perfect.

"When customers understand that we are walking hand in hand towards a common goal, and that they have someone with a head on their shoulders beyond dreams, beautiful designs and designs brings an overall view of how things should look, what the right order is and what they manage first, trust comes very early and they just surrender.

" In the end, in the test of the result, there are no houses in my designs that look the same.

Every house I design is a completely different creation in materials, colors and design.

I have the ability to feel both my clients and the home space in a way that the design will completely connect them.

I notice character traits or loves, let alone certain colors and incorporate them into the design.

When I enter the house, I connect it to those who live in it, and by doing so make it theirs. "

Designer Tip:

"A lot of times people who come to design the house already think about the next step, that is, what will happen when they want to sell the house. In this situation, they do not design the house the way they really would like, but compromise or do things they think will work for them later.

" In my experience, this process is really wrong.

The second you connect the house to you, even if it is very colorful and unique, when you reach the point of sale to a potential buyer he feels and sees that he is in a house that was full of joy and pleasure, that was fun to live in - and that energy permeates.

I have already designed several apartments that were sold at a much higher price than their market value, and it can be said that the unique design did not really detract from this price.

When someone feels that the person who lives in this house had fun and he enjoys the house, this feeling is contagious. "
