Homeland Security Minister Amir Ohana signed an order today (Wednesday) that will allow police officers to enforce the law banning the consumption of prostitution, Walla learned!

NEWS.

The law went into effect in early July, but so far Ohana has refused to sign an order allowing police to fine consumers of prostitution on the grounds that all of the therapeutic and educational responses approved alongside the law have not yet been formulated.

The law stipulates that the consumption of prostitution is considered an administrative offense in Israel.

The fine for a first offense is NIS 2,000, and the fine for a repeat offense is NIS 4,000.

The law, which aims to reduce prostitution in Israel, was approved as a temporary provision to examine its effect.
