The Syria team participating in the International Olympiad for Mathematical Engineering IGO 2020, whose results were announced today, won two silver and three bronze medals and received six certificates of appreciation.
The Excellence and Creativity Commission said in a statement that SANA received a copy of it that the two silver medals were won by the two students, Ahmed Rajab Al-Khamis and Ala Al-Din Madian Ahmed from Aleppo, while the bronze medals were won by Khaled Ghanem Rajoub from Homs, Muhammad Fu'ad Ziyad Al-Muin and Muhammad Anas Imad Al-Din Al-Qudsi from Aleppo.
As for the certificates of appreciation, they were obtained by students Zahra Haitham Ahmed from Lattakia, Haydar Ahmad Salama from Damascus, Ali Firas Bakur from Aleppo, Muhammad Louis Muhammad Alaa al-Shaalan from Damascus, Haidara Ali Khadour from Tartous, and Hussein Hayan Khalil from Tartous.
The Olympiad tests, organized by Iran "remotely" on the 30th of last October, were held for the participating students from 60 countries via the Internet and at the same time over a period of four and a half hours, and included high-level problems in both flat and spatial geometries.
In the Olympiad, 182 male and female students from the current and old Syrian Scientific Olympiad national team and the National Center for Excellence were represented in five centers in “Damascus, Lattakia, Aleppo, Tartous and Homs.”
The participants were also divided into three age groups: the intermediate level for “ninth and first-grade secondary students”, advanced level “for second and third secondary school students” and the free level for undergraduate students.
The International Mathematics Engineering Olympiad was launched in 2014 and is held annually and is one of the most important scientific competitions specialized in mathematics at the global level.
