The Department of Police Investigations in the State Attorney's Office today (Thursday) filed an indictment in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court against Lev HaBira police chief, Deputy Superintendent Shimon Marciano, for assaulting a 12-year-old ultra-Orthodox child and demonstrating the incident in a violent protest in the city's ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods.
The indictment attributes to Marciano two offenses of mere assault.
According to the indictment, on October 4, Marciano ordered police officers to demonstrate in one of the ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods of Jerusalem.
At one point, the demonstration turned violent as protesters set fire to trash cans and threw stones at police.

Later in the demonstration, near midnight, Marciano ran towards a group of protesters and allegedly threw stones at the police at the scene.
The 12-year-old boy, stood together with the protesters at the scene and began to run away from the accused, like most of the other protesters.
Marciano is accused of grabbing the boy, pushing him hard against a stone wall that is in place and knocking the 12-year-old to the ground.
While the child sat on the ground and shouted again "I did nothing", without resisting or doing any other action, the defendant slapped him in the face - without any reason or justification.
The indictment states that the defendant then noticed a demonstrator holding a cell phone in his hand and documented the transport of the child by another police officer.
Marciano grabbed the demonstrator's back, pushed him hard and knocked him to the ground, towards bushes in the area.

On Sunday, a policewoman was documented hitting a demonstrator in the head during a protest by members of the Jerusalem faction in Bnei Brak.
Documentation caused a stir among protesters, and police said they would investigate the case.
The incidents come along with a series of police violence incidents that have been documented in recent days during demonstrations across the country.
Among other things, even in the protests held with the participation of hundreds of right-wing activists in protest of the death of Ohavia Godfather at the intersection of the national police headquarters in Jerusalem, there were many allegations of great violence used by the police against the protesters.
