border police found
17 puppies
on the A8
near Piding and Freilassing
.
The officers became aware of a trailer when they
heard whining
from it.
The
young dogs
were transported in boxes that were too small and without food.

It was more by chance that the observant officers came across the trail.

Policemen heard whining from a trailer near Piding.
Therefore, they took a closer look at the van and actually found
half a dozen small dogs
in it, the police announced on Tuesday.
It was not the only terrifying find this weekend, however.
Two other vehicles were checked near piding and release.
The officers found four and seven puppies, respectively.
So a total of
17 animals
.
Transporting and selling most of them would have been illegal anyway, but the circumstances make the violations worse.

three months old

And thus clearly too young to be transported.
According to the police, they were also
driven on the autobahn in
boxes
that were
too small and
unsecured
.
Without water and food, they had to endure in the trailers.
The respective drivers could not produce the necessary papers and vaccinations.
There were reports of violation of the
animal welfare
law.
The puppies are now in a
shelter
.
