A trade agreement on fishing in British waters was concluded in extremis on December 24 between London and Brussels.

But the Breton committees express, in a press release, "

their very great doubt as to access to British waters without an authorization from the authorities of the United Kingdom

", including in the waters of Jersey and Guernsey.

Faced with this uncertainty "

and given the risks of controls by the British authorities and the time required to recover the material, they invite the Breton shipping lines not to remain in United Kingdom waters after midnight on December 31, 2020 and to withdraw dormant gear before the end of the year

”, indicates the press release posted on the site of the regional committee for maritime fisheries and marine farming of Brittany.

In the event that it would be necessary to have clearances to enter UK waters, the time to obtain them could result in lost turnover.

The Breton committees therefore indicate that they have requested that the aid announced by the Ministry of the Sea "

be implemented as soon as possible and eligible from January 1, 2021

".
