Almost 450 Germans who tried to enter Sweden from Denmark were turned away at the border.
An entry ban from Denmark to Sweden has been in place since December 22nd to prevent the spread of the new variant of the coronavirus.
The number was given to the dpa news agency by a spokeswoman for the southern Swedish police.
They are all travelers who have traveled through Denmark on their way to Sweden.
Direct trips from Germany are not affected by the measure.
Germans shouldn't drive through Denmark if they want to go to Sweden
"It is regrettable that people who have traveled far, have to turn back at the border, where travelers are 100 percent controlled and where special reasons for entry are required," said the spokeswoman.
Germans should therefore not travel via Denmark if they wanted to travel to Sweden.
Sweden has issued an entry ban for foreign nationals from Great Britain and Denmark because a new Corona variant has emerged among the British, which is possibly more contagious than the previously known form.
Several dozen infections of the new virus variant have been detected in Denmark, including Sweden, and other countries, including Germany, have reported the first cases.
The Swedish entry ban applies provisionally until January 21, 2021.
In total, between December 22 and 29, the Swedish police turned away almost 2,900 travelers on the border between Denmark and Skåne in southern Sweden.
Many of them came by car across the Øresund Bridge.
