The manager of Racing 92, who participated in the negotiations on the provision of internationals for the Tournament, argues that "if the Top 14 is strong, the French team will be strong".

The discussion between the French Rugby Federation, the League and the clubs on the provision of internationals for the next Six Nations Tournament (February 6 - March 20) proved "positive", said Friday the coach of the Racing 92 Laurent Travers.

A heated subject between the different parties during the test-matches of the fall, the exchanges should lead this time to the provision of thirty-seven players, plus five non-selectable training partners, as stated by the Coach of Racing 92, associated with the discussions.

“The three essential parties (France team, player, club) must be able to understand that everything is important.

In this regard, the discussion was positive.

Of course it was also lively, but everyone did what was necessary for the good of the three parties, ”explained Laurent Travers, questioned on the subject during a Racing 92 press briefing.

Preparing for the 2023 World Cup

“The discussions went very well.

The goal was for the France team to be able to work in the best possible conditions to prepare as well as possible, whether for the Tournament but also in the medium term for the World Cup (2023 in France).

And that the Top 14 be as involved as possible (...) If the Top 14 is strong, the France team will be strong, ”he said.

During the winter of 2020, the coach of the XV of France had benefited from 42 players, all selectable, for the preparation of the Six Nations Tournament.

But during the autumn period, FFR and clubs disagreed on the number of international matches (six in total).

The parties had finally found a compromise with a maximum of three match sheets per player and 31 players for the preparation of each meeting.

The coach had to complete training, especially with international rugby sevens.
