Menem was admitted on December 15 at the Los Arcos Sanatorium in the Argentine capital for a prostate medical check-up and there he was diagnosed with a urinary infection that complicated his heart problems.
The former head of state was already hospitalized in 2020 on two other occasions, although later he returned to participate in various sessions of the Senate virtually, a methodology established during the coronavirus pandemic.
"My father @CarlosMenem_LR is still in an induced coma, I deeply regret that a great defender of life, the one who instituted the day of the unborn child, cannot accompany with his convictions at this very important moment for our country," Zulemita had written on Tuesday, when the Senate was preparing to make the voluntary termination of pregnancy a law.
