The Brucker Perchten represent the hunt for demons and evil spirits in their performances. For this they need good spirits - helpers who ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Fürstenfeldbruck
- Even before the start of the season, the mask wearers and helpers are ready.
While the Perchten rehearse the performances, the helpers memorize all the details.
They are usually also the first at the venue and take care of the preparations.
“This includes contact with the organizer and, for example, with stewards or the volunteer fire brigade,” says Peter Neumann, one of the ten good spirits.
Even if the location of the performance is known from previous years, its assessment is a mandatory task.
“This also includes the path that the mask wearer will have to cover later.
In doing so, we remove potential danger spots or erect temporary barriers to protect both spectators and people, ”Neumann describes.
"If security is guaranteed, we take care of the necessary infrastructure, that is, torch stands are set up, the sound system is installed and water is provided for later extinguishing the torches."
Then it can go.
The helpers escort the actors to the performance location, because you can't see much through the masks.
As the eyes and ears of the Perchten, the good spirits now pay particular attention to safety, such as sufficient distance from the audience and the open fire.
At the same time, they perceive a large number of details that will come up later - be it reactions from viewers or suggestions for corrections to the processes.
In this way, the appearances can be continuously developed.
“It is important that as a helper you have a high degree of responsibility and initiative,” says Peter Neumann, summarizing the task.
“I'm proud of the role we play in the club.” Although the helpers are not in the limelight - without them, nothing works at the Perchtenlauf.
