The Qardaha City Council, in coordination with the Lattakia Governorate and the Directorate of Agriculture, organized an afforestation campaign to rehabilitate the entrance to the city that was exposed to fires, as a continuation of the campaigns that the governorate holds to restore vegetation cover in the areas affected by the fires, with the participation of civil and party activities and youth organizations.

The head of the city council, Eng. Ali Al-Qawzi, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the entrance to the city was exposed to fires during the month of October, which caused the vegetation cover to be completely damaged in it, and that the campaign comes within the council’s plan to rehabilitate the entrance and show the aesthetic aspects, in coordination with several activities by cultivating large and varied seedlings. .

In his turn, the Director of Agriculture, Eng. Munther Khair Bey, pointed out that a variety of large-sized plants have been secured to rehabilitate the site as part of the ongoing afforestation campaigns in the governorate since the beginning of last month, during which about 40 public agencies and civil actors have worked to afforestate separate sites from fires, indicating that the site has been afforested with trees prevailing in Previously, the site includes thuya, cypress, pilus, and habiscus.

A number of citizens indicated that the afforestation campaigns represent the message of the Syrians that they are determined to replant every place affected by fires to what it was previously and more beautiful.

The governor of Latakia, Ibrahim Khader Al-Salem, participated in the afforestation campaign.
