(CNN Spanish) -
The questioned president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured in an interview with the Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet, broadcast this Friday by the international channel of the State -TeleSUR- that he will authorize the Venezuelan bank to create accounts for the "payment digital currency ”.
An announcement that occurs at a time when many economic experts speak of a de facto dollarization in the country.
In this sense, Maduro added that Venezuela is heading towards a 100% digital economy.
In addition, he denied that Venezuela has a completely dollarized economy and clarified that in his opinion there is no contradiction between dollarization and revolution, but rather that there is a process of complementation between the national currency - the bolivar - and the dollar.

He highlighted that 77.3% of commercial transactions in the country were made in bolivars through digital payment methods compared to 18.6% that were made in cash, mainly the dollar.
In his opinion, this shows the weight that the bolivar still maintains in the current economy.
He reported that only 3.4% of transactions in the country were made in cash, which is why he proposed to expand the digitization of the economy to 100%.

Venezuela is quietly abandoning socialism
In the last two years and after a monetary reconversion, bolivars in cash are scarce in Venezuela.
The Maduro government blames the restrictions on access to the local currency for actions of alleged sabotage.
