Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif attacked Israel this evening (Saturday), claiming that "we have received intelligence from Iraq that Israeli agents are planning attacks against American targets, in order to give the outgoing Trump administration a false cause for war."
He called on US President Donald Trump: "Beware of the trap. If there are fireworks it will have a bad result, especially for your best friends."
Zarif's remarks come amid high tensions between the United States and Iran over the events marking a year since the assassination of Qassem Suleimani, which are taking place today and tomorrow.
The United States fears Iran's retaliatory attacks on the one hand, and Iran fears a US offensive against them before the end of Trump's term.
Revolutionary Guards commander Hussein Salami also warned today that any US attack would be met with a harsh response from Iran.
The commander of the Revolutionary Guards Air Force, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, warned today that if war broke out, Iran would not distinguish between the American bases in the region and the Arab states that host the American forces.
