Democrat Nancy Pelosi is re-elected Speaker of the United States House of Representatives during the first session of the 117th Congress.
Pelosi was elected by a narrow majority of 216 to 208, while five Democratic lawmakers voted against her.
On November 18th, the 80-year-old Pelosi was chosen as the leader of the Democrats to be their candidate for the presidency of the House for a new term.
