In this context, Mearsheimer, a professor of political science at the University of Chicago, USA, sought in his book entitled (The Greatest Illusion ... Liberal Dreams and International Reality) to clarify the disadvantages of the neoliberal ideas adopted by the United States, especially on the social and international level.
He pointed out to the most prominent disadvantages of the excessive focus on “individualism”, as liberalism ignores that human beings are in their essence social beings and that they are born, raised and interact in a collective context and not in isolation from it. It also destroys social ties between individuals and thus disintegrates and ruptures societies. Foreign towards states.
The writer Mearsheimer emphasized in his book that liberalism does not work as a sound basis for foreign policy at all, stressing that adopting liberalism as a foreign policy leads to major problems such as interfering in the affairs of other countries and trying to change political systems even by using force. “So liberal foreign policy leads to more wars and not Stability at the international level. ”
The writer indicated that embracing modern liberalism on the external level not only harms the liberal thought within the borders of the country that exported liberalism, but that it leads to more instability and destruction, and even increases the rate of hostility and competition between the major countries.
He explains how the American foreign policy has failed in most of the foreign files in “Ukraine, Georgia and the Middle East,” where American interventions have increased chaos in these countries and regions, especially Egypt, Libya and Syria instead of achieving peace and economic prosperity as Washington and the Western powers claim in the context of imposing neoliberal teachings. .
Mearsheimer explained how "neoliberalism" will not achieve its goals as it claims to spread democracy, stability and peace in the world. Rather, its tendencies will lead to more wars and endless conflicts, just as wars and terrorism at the international level have increased.

Mearsheimer emphasized in a lecture in 2015 that the United States played a major role in perpetuating the terrorist war on Syria and that Washington destroyed and dismantled Iraq, and that its invasion helped create the terrorist organization "ISIS" in the region.
