Hummus-Sana
Handicraft industries in Homs have a long history, as they are passed down by the community from one generation to the next, and the women in this province are keen to preserve these industries that reflect the region’s heritage and excellence.
Ibtisam Dayoub, a resident of Homs, says that handicrafts are a source of income for many female breadwinners, especially since their achievement is considered one of the talents that many do not master, pointing out that her passion for handicrafts pushed her to practice manual work with sewing.
Doub's sense enabled her to execute pieces of art with a high degree of perfection, pointing to the importance of exhibitions and bazaars in introducing people to her creativity and marketing her products.
As for craftsmanship, Umm Jaber is creative in another field, where her fingertips form different pieces of wool, indicating that this talent grew with her until she became a professional and became a source of income.
These artisans and others found in the "House of Handicrafts" affiliated to the Karam Shami Charitable Association and the exhibitions it holds, the last of which is the annual exhibition, a window that enables them to market their products and improve their quality to meet the market requirements.
The supervisor of the house, Siham Al-Beri, explained to Sana Tourism and Society that the home helps the families and the affected women to have their own fingerprint and secure sustainable income for them, pointing out that last year 151 women and girls were trained in various handicrafts in the departments of sewing, embroidery, wool, women's haircut and beauty.
