Covert activity of the Northern Squadron while operating an undercover agent in the localities of Arab society in the north for the past year, this morning (Monday) led to the arrest of 34 suspects, 18 of whom are charged with offenses in the arms and drug trafficking. , Shefar'am and Carmiel.

The detainee was an officer who was discharged from the IDF three years ago, as well as business owners and normative professions who engaged in the arms and drug trade in parallel with their legal occupation.

The undercover agent who was activated in the past year, nicknamed "Jacka", is a former Soviet immigrant with his mother, completed a regular course of study and served in the IDF as a fighter in the Kfir Brigade. He underwent special police training to prepare him for the job and began to intervene in the criminal life of Arab society in the north, during the operation he purchased five pistols, three submachine guns "Carlo" and two spray grenades suspected of arms trafficking. , mdma, ecstasy pills and amphetamines.

At the end of a covert operation of "Jacka" over the course of a year, this morning the signal was given and Israeli police officers in the north simultaneously raided dozens of hotspots in Arab society and arrested the 34 suspects.

Among those detained were IDF officers, and professionals such as barbers, a gym trainer, a factory shift manager and locksmiths.

As part of the operation, a weapon was also found that was allegedly used to shoot at police officers in a mobile in the town of Deir al-Assad about six months ago.

Superintendent Shimon Lavi, commander of the Northern District, commented on the activity: "We are working intensively in all localities of Arab society, sometimes even underground, to arrest and imprison the criminals who distribute and use the weapons in the localities. The weapons: from smuggling the weapons within the borders and areas of the Palestinian Authority, through the merchants and distributors to the settlements. "

Agent "Jacka" received a certificate of appreciation from the commander of the Northern District and his appointment as a police officer following the operation.

For Jacka it was closing the circle, as his beloved grandfather was a policeman in the Soviet police.

His grandfather, his grandfather's son, degenerated into a criminal life and was imprisoned and his grandfather raised him until the age of 10, when his father died in prison, then Jacka and his mother immigrated to Israel.

The language barrier, and the difficulties of immigration led Jacka to spend a large part of his youth in boarding schools, but always wanted to join society, he enlisted in the army as a fighter in the Kfir Brigade, and now he also fulfilled his dream of becoming a policeman.
