IAI announced today (Tuesday) that it has successfully conducted an interception experiment in the air defense system "Lightning 8 MRSAM" in India.
This is a system developed in cooperation between Mapat in the Ministry of Defense together with "DRDO" - the weapons development authority in the Indian Ministry of Defense, and which uses the Israeli navy and the arms of the sea, air and land in India.

The purpose of the system is to provide broad and specific regional protection against a variety of attack threats in the maritime arena from air, sea and land, while integrating several key systems that are at the forefront of technology: MMR digital radar, command and control array, launchers and interceptors with advanced domestication. Planes, helicopters, UAVs, anti-ship missiles, cruise missiles and more.
The original purpose of the system is to protect naval vessels and strategic strategic facilities.
The volume of sales, the aerospace industry notes, has in recent years stood at more than six billion dollars.
The outline of the experiment, conducted in India under corona restrictions, included extreme reference scenarios verifying the various system capabilities.
As part of the experiment, Sugar intercepted the system from a land launcher and successfully intercepted the targets set in the experiment.
The experiment began with the launch of the target and its entry into orbit, then the system radar detected the threat and tracked the target in flight, the interceptor launcher launched into orbit, due to the target, acquired and intercepted it successfully. All components of the weapon system successfully met the complex test objectives.
"The impressive and advanced capability of the air defense system has once again been proven against a wide range of threats," said IAI CEO Boaz Levy. "Every experiment in the air defense system is a complex operational event, and its existence under the corona limits makes it even more complex.
This experiment is further evidence of the strong partnership between IAI and India and between the two countries.
The aerospace industry is proud to lead the collaboration with the 'DRDO' and the arms in India and is committed to its continued success. "
