Corona - Daily Update: 8,164 were diagnosed in Corona in the last day, another 50 died

Data from the Ministry of Health show that the daily number of verified people continues to cross the 8,000 mark, while dozens of other people have died from the virus.

There has also been an increase in the number of serious patients, and 1,445 people are hospitalized in the hospitals.

The Ministry of Health updated this morning (Wednesday) that 8,164 people were diagnosed in Corona in the past day - Monday in a row in which the daily number of verified people crosses the 8,000 mark.

This increased the number of infected patients in Israel to 458,132.

Yesterday, about 119,525 tests were performed, with a positive percentage of the virus being 6.8%.

The data of the tests and their results are not final and may change in subsequent updates of the Ministry of Health.

The number of active patients is 59,229.

1,445 patients are hospitalized, of whom 207 are respirators and 824 are seriously ill.

To date, 3,495 people have died from the corona virus in Israel - an increase of 50 deaths per day.

Yesterday, 8,308 people were diagnosed in Corona.

The number of tests was 112,633, of which 7.4% were positive for the virus.

Along with the increase in morbidity, the vaccination campaign against Corona continues.

Two and a half weeks into the operation, close to one and a half million Israelis have already been vaccinated, 115,000 of them in the last day.

Following the continued spread of the virus, the government last night approved the tightening of the closure starting tomorrow at midnight and for two weeks.

During the full closure, the activity of the education system will be completely stopped except for special education, and the activity of the economy will be reduced to only vital jobs.

The 1,000-meter limit will remain in place, but crowds will be further reduced to just five people indoors, and ten people in open space.

In addition, those who purchased tickets before the closure will be allowed to fly abroad during it. Those entering Israel from dangerous countries will be transferred to isolation in hotels, to prevent the further spread of the British or South African mutation. An individual permit will then be issued.

According to experts, the hermetic closure with the addition of the effect of the vaccines will help a lot in dealing with the British mutation and may reduce morbidity, but the zigzag of the last two weeks will lead to heavy workloads in hospitals and health funds.
