He added that “the violence must stop immediately.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois, tweeted calling the events "attempted coup."

For his part, Senator Marco Rubio addressed Trump in a post on Twitter.

The Secretary General of the OAS, Luis Almagro, published a statement in which his office "condemns and repudiates the attack against institutions that is being perpetrated today in the United States by protesters who are unaware of the recent electoral results."

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez referred to the events.

He said he follows "with concern" the news coming from "the United States Capitol."
