President-elect Joe Biden speaks of a "riot" in view of the Trump supporters who have invaded the US Capitol.

Biden appeared in front of cameras in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware.

“Storming the Capitol, breaking windows, occupying offices, occupying the United States Senate, rummaging through the desks of the House of Representatives in the Capitol, and threatening the safety of duly elected officials is not a protest.

It's commotion, ”said Biden.

Biden called on incumbent Donald Trump to call for an end to the "siege" of the Capitol.

Trump had to address the nation in a televised address to keep his oath and defend the constitution, said Biden: "So President Trump, step forward." The storm on the Capitol was an "unprecedented attack" on democracy.

Biden appealed to the world not to see the US just as a haven of unrest.

"The scenes of the chaos at the Capitol do not reflect the real America, do not represent who we are." It is a small number of extremists who have committed themselves to lawlessness.

"I call on this mob to withdraw and let the work of democracy go ahead."

Trump: "You have to go home now"

Trump expressed himself shortly afterwards in a video message distributed on Twitter.

The incumbent US President asked his supporters at the Capitol to withdraw.

He understands the anger over the outcome of the election, "but you have to go home now," said Trump.

"We have to have peace, we have to have law and order." Nobody should be hurt, he said.

It was a hard time, said Trump and spoke again - without evidence - of a fraud in the presidential election.

The elected president claimed that the election was stolen from him and his supporters.

There is no evidence of Trump's allegations, which he has been raising since the election last November.

“I know how you are feeling, but go home,” Trump said to his supporters: “We love you guys.

You are something very special. "

Trump's tweet was given a warning by Twitter that evening because of unsubstantiated fraud allegations.
