Acting US Defense Secretary Christopher Miller condemned the storming of the Capitol by hundreds of supporters of outgoing President Donald Trump, pledging that the transition to President-elect Joe Biden would be smooth.
In statements published by the Pentagon today on his official Twitter account, Miller said that the violence witnessed by the Capitol is a tragedy that deserves to be reprehensible and contradicts the principles of the United States Constitution, adding that our republic faced the threat of destruction yesterday.
Miller confirmed that he and the rest of the Pentagon staff will continue to perform their duties in order to implement a smooth transition of power to President-elect Biden on the 20th of this month.
