The anti-Covid dogs took up service in the German-speaking scientific high school in Bolzano. In the lecture hall they smelled the students' masks, deposited in cardboard trays. In case of suspicion they crouched and the student voluntarily submitted to the swab.
During the first day of service, the dogs reported five suspected cases. For these students, the rapid antigen test was negative.
The coordinator of the anti-Covid molecular dogs project Patrick Franzoni highlighted the importance of being able to 'test' a large number of students in a short time. These are 'expert' molecular dogs, already on duty to search for explosives and drugs. It is planned to train 18 dogs from all over South Tyrol for this procedure in a few weeks.
